Introducing: Our newest addition to the family

Even though Sarah and I are expecting a baby (she's 18 weeks along), this post isn't about that. This post is all about our brand new puppy! Her name is Geist (German for ghost) and she's a eight-week-old pure white female German Shepherd.

We're all so excited to have the new little bundle of joy (and howls, pee, poop, mischief, etc) in the house, and you can bet the training has already begun. The whole reason I got a German Shepherd is because I know that they're brilliant dogs -- eager to please their masters above all else. I grew up with German Shepherds and I'm looking forward to my children growing up with one as well.

We're only two days in with the new pup and it's already been a treat. She's caught on quickly with staying on my right-hand side during walks, and not jumping on the furniture anymore. She's even making significant progress in housebreaking, even after only two days. Sure, I don't expect her to be perfect at everything right away, but I know what German Shepherds are capable of, and I'm excited for her to be a long-time companion.

So look for many more posts in the future about Geist. I'm sure she'll be an important part of this family, and the source for some entertaining writing.
